SORRY!

I mean to write on here and keep everyone up to date! I hope everyone is doing great! So much has happened since September 7.... why can't I just keep up with this thing?

I love my job, I am excited for the lakes to be frozen enough to go fishing, I am busy planning this wedding, and I can't wait for Christmas!

We started a wedding website: http://www.mywedding.com/nickandchristineberndt

We have the church, my dress, the bridesmaid's dresses picked out, and our DJ.

The reception is the hard part. I can't believe that some places are already booked for October 3, 2009. People really get a jump on these things! And we don't want to spend a ton of money of the reception. I have been talking with people and most people said that the fancy places don't have the best food... we are such a cheeseburger and chicken finger couple! I don't want some weird food at my wedding! What to do!

I have Tuesday's and Thursday's off and they have been consumed with wedding research! We are going to look at some places tonight so I better get a move on!

Where did the time go?

I realized today that we are already done with the first week of September and I have not kept anyone up to date since June!!! What was I thinking?

School is going very well... I cannot believe that I only have 7 weeks left and I am done with schooling. For now at least! My school has a placement director, but she was less than willing to work with me. My job would come on her time..... but I do not like uncertainty and I am not a procrastinator. I do not want to graduate with a degree and do not have a job in the field. So two weeks ago I decided to take matters into my own hands and do a google search of law firms around me and in downtown. I looked on monster.com and careerbuilder.com, but none of the posted jobs were fitting what I was looking for right now. I want to work at a firm part time while I am in school and get the hang of things before I graduate and will be thrown into full time. I sent a cover letter and resume to a few law firms and I got a call four days after. Colette from Robins, Kaplan, Miller, & Ciresi asked me to come in for an interview. This was by far the largest and most prestigious firm that I went for, and to be honest, I thought it was a long shot. I went for my interview this past Wednesday and on Friday Colette called to offer me the position.

I am nervous to start my position as a legal administrative assistant in this firm because they are so well known in the legal profession. The attorney I will be working for is the managing partner of the 125+ attorney firm. He is the big guy! He also practices law. He represents Best Buy in their business transactions and corporate finance!

If you want to see more about the firm, their website is http://www.rkmc.com/ and my attorney is Steven Schumeister.

One thing I will say that I was impressed with was that their vending machines are FREE and they have a courtroom in the building just for practice! It is very fancy and I am excited for the 15th!!

Moving on....

I decided last weekend that I was bored with my long, blonde hair. Nick was out of town for work this past week so I made an appointment! Surprise! My hair still has some blonde, but has a lot of dark brown too!

My mom found a picture online of a hair style that she liked so she got a hair cut too!
I have some 'not so good' news too. Nick will leave on Tuesday for South Carolina for work and will be there until October 4th. I am not impressed!
Hope everyone had a great Labor Day!

June...

This has been one crazy month. Sorry I have not been keeping up to date with this blog. The wireless internet in my apartment was goofy and stopped working for about a week. Anyways, I graduated from the first part of my program last Saturday (June 21). I am now on break for 2 weeks before I go back for another 4 and a half months to get my degree. I was surprised with a wonderful award at graduation from my instructors of Outstanding Student in my program. I am also pretty proud of my new computer!!! My parents decided to get me an early graduation present that I can use while I am still in school!! I got my new Dell desk top on Tuesday and have been figuring all of this new stuff out! Our apartment is coming along and it definately looks as though people live here now! We have decorations and everything!! :)

Here are some pictures of graduation:

Don't know how I forgot about this.

So not only did I just move, but I quit my job at Jenson's (A boutique type department store in downtown Anoka)!!!! I was driving 25 miles three times a week to work a 3 or 4 hour shift. With gas prices as ridiculous as they are...I had enough! And my boss's were rather rude to me when I told them that I moved. I worked there for almost 2 years and I was the one who always filled in when people called in sick...I didn't once call in sick. So there. Well, my mom's work (Smyth Printing Co.) was hiring college students for summer positions. I decided to work there. I am not sure what I will be doing just yet..I start this afternoon! But I know that I can handle whatever it is for the $4 raise I will be getting from Jenson's, the fact that I don't work past 6 p.m. or for sure 8 p.m. and that I no longer work weekends!!! (Which is great with all the lakes near our apartment.) I am excited to start my new job and actually be able to save money, but am nervous because I haven't started a new job in 2 years!!!!!

The Virtual Tour

I think i said in my last post that I would get pictures of the new apartment! I love this place!

This is our kitchen... there is room above the top cupboards and I think I am going to put some vines and greenery up there... What else do people put up there?

The 'dining area'. Our table is new from Ikea. I love that store!

I really like our living room. There is so much space. And I love our new couch. I really wanted the chair too, but it was $100 more than the couch!!! RIDICULOUS! Nick even let me put my desk in there with my laptop and my craft stuff...Thanks Nick. The wall behind the couch is huge and empty. We'll work on that later I suppose. Our management said that we could paint it if we wanted.

I will say that going from a California King to a Queen is not that great. I miss my own bed! Our room really needs decorating... We need to get a TV to put on that dresser and we need something to put on the walls!!! We can deal for now though.

The only thing about apartments is that the closet space is just not the same as it was at home.... haha. poor Nick gets the top right corner for his clothes and I get the rest of the top for my bottoms and the entire bottom for my tops! Believe it or not I have about 3 loads of laudry to do!!! I love clothes and am getting stressed out that I have to share machines with the rest of the peple on my floor. You never know what people are putting in them. I refuse to get bleach on my clothes and have orange spots!!! What to do, what to do....

Lastly, I love our bathroom! It is so bright! My only complaint is that there isn't any counter space... I need to get a small shelf to hang over the toilet.. or one of those racks that stands behind the toilet with a bunch of shelves... We'll see.

100 miles per hour...

......is about how fast my life is spinning!!!!! I have been so sick of spending almost $200 per month commuting to school everyday. Nick decided that he was sick of paying about $400!!!! Nick said that he was thinking about moving closer to his work but not too far away from me! Well last Saturday we went to look at Lakeshore Oaks Apartments in Shoreview and I really liked them. I realized that they were only 5 miles from my school and I wouldn't have to drive in rush hour. To make a long story short... We are moving in on Friday! I can't believe this is even happening... It's bitter-sweet I suppose. I have never been away from my parents and honestly don't know what I am going to do without them!!! I will be closer to the cities now and when I have an actual job that is most likely where it will be... I am excited to be independent though. I feel so grown up! I will put pictures up as soon as I get some! The apartment is really nice! I am excited to have the in-ground pool I always wanted and tennis courts! We also will live right by a couple of lakes and walking trails!

It is getting NICE out!

About a week and a half ago Nick sold his motorcycle (crotch-rocket) and two days later he went and bought a new one (cruiser). I was very excited that he finally sold his other one because he was growing out of that boyish stage. And more people get hurt on those things! Motorcycles are kind of scary but so much fun to cruise around on! This picture was from yesterday.....

Hopefully the weather will be nice on Saturday. It is the annual Flood Run and I am really excited for it! Nick's dad, sister, and her boyfriend will all be going!

I told my dad that he should get one now too so we can all go cruising together!
